An event connected with a YMCA membership drive. A blackboard behind the table shows the names of eight team leaders, each taking the name of a National League baseball team. Names that can be read are: Leahman Williams, Harold Bass, John Cannon (head of the table), Ira Angel, Ruben J. Dailey (bow tie; 2nd from left on back side of the table), Willard Robinson, and Robert McAdams. Second from right on near side of the table is Ernest B. McKissick. Until social institutions were integrated around 1970, the Young Men’s Institute was the home of the YMCA for African Americans, called the Market Street Branch.
