Pack Memorial Library – The Beginning

When the First National Bank on Pack Square went broke in 1897, George Pack foreclosed on the mortgage. In 1899 Mr. Pack donated the building, worth $25,000, to the city of Asheville to be used for a public library. Named for the donor, Pack Memorial Public Library occupied this building for 1899 to 1925.
