Do you miss the library and all of the programs we have to offer? So do WE! So we’ve done something about it– for the past two weeks NC Room staff have been hosting virtual programs via Zoom.
Zoom is a cloud-based video calling software that allows hundreds of people to gather at once. It’s not like actually visiting with friends in the Lord Auditorium, but it’s as close as we can come while we work stop the spread of the coronavirus! The best part is that you don’t need a great internet connection to join the program– you can call in from your phone if that’s more convenient for you.
The programs are live on Tuesday mornings at 11, but if you can’t make it, don’t worry! We’re recording each session so you can tune in at your leisure. We often say to patrons when touting our digital catalog, “You can do research in your PJs!” Now we’ve taken it a step further, you can join us for local history programs in your PJs, too!
We’re announcing programs as we go, so keep an eye on the Buncombe County Libraries events calendar or our Facebook page. There, you’ll find all the details about the next two sessions, plus all the information you need to log in to the Zoom call.
We’ve had two successful Zoom programs so far, and we’re looking forward to more! We’ll be creating new content like this for at least as long as the NC Room is not operating at its normal capacity. Have questions or suggestions? Email us at packnc@buncombecounty.org
Check out our first Zoom program to learn all about AncestryLibrary edition, then venture on over to our YouTube channel for hours of local history content. We hope to “see” you on Tuesday morning!
Remember, its only should have an Apostrophe when it’s an abbrevation for ” it is”
