Drive out (walk or ride the bus) to the North Asheville Branch Library for an entertaining presentation on North Asheville as perhaps you’ve never seen it on August 23
In conjunction with The North Asheville Neighborhood History Project, Terry Taylor will present a thoroughly revised version of his Greetings From Asheville program. If you missed the previous presentation you’ll learn a bit about the history of postcards through examples of Asheville postcards old and new. And you’ll be amazed by the surprising number and variety of North Asheville postcards that are in The North Carolina Collection at Pack Library.
Merrimon Avenue—once a major thoroughfare of highways 19, 23, 25, and 70 to points north and west—catered to travelers and locals alike with restaurants, motels, and guest-houses. North Asheville also boasted many fine homes as the population grew and moved out from the city center. And they’re all pictured on postcards!
The program will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 6 p.m. in the North Asheville Branch Library at 1030 Merrimon Avenue.
